This information is provided by Dr. Ed Brenegar of Shared Wisdom Networks. In order for communities, who bring Col. Grossman to speak on media violence and children, to reap the benefits of his presentation, they must have a plan that is successful in two important ways. First, they need to attract as large and as diverse an audience from their community as possible. Second, they need a plan for follow-up that is focused upon citizens taking initiative to make a difference. Each of these results are products of design and hard work. It involves planning, relationship building, securing sponsors, working with the local media, and following up on details. The success that we had in Asheville and Hendersonville was a direct result of doing well in each of these categories. While our central concern was the media's influence upon kids, we realized that we were only four people, and that success really meant energizing new people to become involved. The reality is that people get involved where they, personally, are most effected. So, our challenge, now, is to stimulate the citizen initiative of all those hundreds of people who attended to get involved in this issue at the local level. What has happened here in Asheville and Hendersonville can happen anywhere. I'm absolutely convinced of this. As a result, I have put together a set of services through my business that our small team of coordinators would like to offer to those communities which are planning for Col. Grossman's visit or want to know what to do after he has spoken. The following pages describe different services that can be helpful in having a successful outcome for the presentation or any issue that concerns a local community. continue reading about community initiatives >> << see other killology related sites
